Sushi a Japanese Delicacy
Like a lot of people I know, I also love Sushi. I go out to my favorite Japanese restaurants to eat good sushi. I do not like handmade Sushi over revolving Sushi. Handmade Sushi is hard to make, right? NHK showed me how easy it is to make Sushi. Basically it is just rice and raw fish. But I thought there is some secret preparation method that leads to such delicious edible Sushi. NHK is my teacher for Japanese culture. It taught me correct way of using chopstick, traditional way of eating Sushi. This time NHK taught me how to make handmade Sushi. It is easy and quite fun to make homemade sushi just like it is served in restaurants.
The first and very important step is to get good fresh fish. The quality and freshness of fish determines how good sushi will be. Sometime frozen fish is ok but fresh fish is best. Ingredients for sushi are
・Raw fish
・Rice vinegar
・Rice
・Soy sauce
・Wasabi powder
・Thin slices of pickled garlic
Preparation method
1.Clean the fish and make slices of fish in thin wafers
2.Take Wasabi powder in bowl, add water and mix up until thick paste is formed
3.Cook the rice
4.Season the Rice.
Give few stirs to loosen it up. Add some rice vinegar and stir it. Keep seasoning with rice vinegar until you like the way rice tastes.
Now you are ready to make Sushi.
First apply some water on both palms. Take slice of raw fish put it on the left palm. Put a little Wasabi paste on top it. With right hand take a scoop of rice and make it in cube shape. Put rice cube on top of fish. To make fish and rice tight, press rice lightly with left hand thumb. Smoothly roll Sushi on left palm and bring fish on top. Now you are ready to serve.
Sushi can be eaten with Chopstick. But traditionally sushi is eaten with hand. To enjoy best, turn sushi 90°, dip it in soy sauce and then eat.
